Jolly Good Egg and Cress Sandwiches

I made the most of today’s glorious spring weather (and a fortuitous day off work) by going on a mammoth cycle ride around east and north London. I eventually made it to the excellent J + A Café in time for a late lunch and had an egg and cress open sandwich on home-made Irish soda bread. This would no doubt have had Anne et al squealing in delight – you know how excited the Five get over a good sarnie.

I wholeheartedly recommend J+A. Not only are they always friendly and welcoming, but their soda bread is the finest I’ve tasted (much better than mine). If you come for breakfast you can even have it toasted with delicious lemon curd or jam. They also have a great lunch menu, they do afternoon tea and there’s always a selection of tempting cakes on offer (plus nice wines and, more importantly, ginger beer).
